Livingston Parish Press Release - January 11, 2024

LIVINGSTON, La - Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte has joined the Amite River Basin Commission (ARBC) as a Commissioner. He is the first Livingston Parish President to serve directly on the ARBC. Delatte’s first meeting as a Commissioner was on Tuesday January 9th.

“I am excited that I have been asked to serve on the Amite River Basin Commission.” said Randy Delatte. “Fixing our drainage issues in Livingston Parish is the number one priority for the citizens and for our administration and I know that a role on the ARBC will put us in the best position to do just that.”

During his first meeting on Tuesday, Delatte was also named to the ARBC Project Committee which will make recommendations to the full Commission on projects and for funding decisions.

The Amite River Basin Commission includes a total of 16 Commission Members. The Commissioners include all 7 Parish Presidents located within the ARBC Boundaries (including Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, East Feliciana, Iberville, St. James and St. Helena) or their designees, six at-large members, and three non-voting technical members which include the Secretary of DOTD, CPRA & the Pontchartrain Levee District.

Created in 1981 by the Louisiana Legislature by Act 896, and recently updated by Act 490 of the 2022 Louisiana Legislature, the Amite River Basin Commission was created to serve as a truly multi-jurisdictional, non-federal entity to direct and implement major flood control efforts with the Amite River Basin.
